Estate agency franchise territories
Secure your exclusive local territories today
Open House franchisees are asked to select an exclusive operating territory which they would like to work in and secure referrals for their own franchise business. This is usually, but not necessarily, based within close proximity to the area in which they live.
Securing a territory
By securing a territory, you are ensuring that all leads from Open House for that area are passed over to your business and you have the exclusive rights to operate there. Although franchisees are not restricted from working outside of their allocated area, you are not allowed to work in areas owned by other franchisees.
Open House is ideally looking for ambitious franchisees that, once they’ve got a significant market share within their initial territory, will look to grow their business into other areas, and potentially also run their own team of personal agents.
Territory sizes are determined by the number of postcode areas that a franchisee wishes to cover. These are based on the pre-fix part of a postcode (e.g. WA1, B1, EC1, YO1). The more postcode pre-fixes that you select, the larger the area (and number of people / properties) that will be secured.

For the standard franchise package of £5,995 + VAT, you are able to select postcodes which cover a population of up to 40,000 people (which in most areas will equate to approximately 17,500 separate registered properties). This is worked out using Census data showing population figures per postcode. Where more than one postcode pre-fix is selected (e.g. WA1 & WA2), these areas must be adjoining each other and split between no more than two local authority areas.
Standard territory sizes are more than sufficient to support a one or two person operation and only in circumstances where the potential franchisee can demonstrate that they would be able to cope with the extra workloads of a larger area would multiple territories or additional postcode areas be considered (from the offset).
Where a potential franchisee can demonstrate that they are able to support a larger territory, additional postcode areas can be purchased and included as part of the secured territory for an additional £1,395 + VAT per additional 10,000 people.
For example - if a franchisee wanted to secure postcodes WA1 & WA2 and the total population living within this postcode range was 60,000, then the franchise fee to secure this territory would be £8,785 + VAT (i.e. £5,995 std franchise fee, plus £2,790 for additional 20,000 population coverage).
Please note that franchise territories will be strictly allocated on a first-come first-served basis (on successful completion of an interview),
